And by the way, I would posit that you're not missing anything, and that you probably *shouldn't* bother. mySpace and Facebook are, in my estimation, little more than a way for people who would otherwise not have websites to have them. I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not being hooked in to either. It even seems like the "social" aspect of mS and FB are not much different than me having a link to iS on the 'Farm and having the ability to post comments here. It's just (caution: semi-inflammatory, somewhat elitist-jerk terminology forthcoming) dumbed-down to make it accessible to people who wouldn't have an online presence otherwise. Is it a good thing for them to have a presence? Sometimes, I'm sure it is. But I stand by you in your stance that heck, you already *have* an online presence. It's not like people can't put a link to iS on their Facebook sites. It just takes a bit of effort, right? I totally fail to see the point.

See, you're not the only porch codger. I can be just as cranky as you can about this stuff. :)

I can tell you this - you won't be the only cranky Internet coot on the porch. I'll be sitting there too, steadfastly waving my cane at the rowdy Facebook/mySpace whippersnappers and yelling, "Shave off them sideburns, you look like a girl!" (by way of explanation, that's something that a real-life cranky coot yelled at my friend Jesse's dad back in the day. Seriously.)
